What is RTT Hypnotherapy
— and why does it work when other things haven’t?
If you’ve landed here, you’ve probably already tried a few things. Therapy, coaching, self-help books, positive affirmations, mindset work. Some of it helped. None of it quite reached the thing that keeps pulling you back.
RTT Hypnotherapy is different — not because it’s magic, but because it works at a different level. Here’s what it actually is, what happens in a session, and why so many women find it reaches the places nothing else has.
What RTT actually stands for
RTT stands for Rapid Transformational Therapy. It was developed by Marisa Peer, one of the UK’s leading therapists, and combines the most effective elements of hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychotherapy and NLP into one focused, solution-led approach.
The ‘rapid’ part isn’t a marketing claim. Most clients see significant, lasting shifts in one to three sessions — compared to months or years in traditional talking therapy. The reason for that speed is the level at which the work happens.
Why the subconscious is where the real work is
Here’s the thing about the conscious mind: it’s only responsible for about 5% of our behaviour. The other 95% — our habits, emotional responses, beliefs about ourselves, the patterns we keep repeating — lives in the subconscious.
Most approaches to change — therapy, coaching, mindset work — operate at the conscious level. They help you think differently, reframe your perspective, choose new behaviours. That’s valuable. But it doesn’t touch the original belief. Which is why the doubt, the pattern, the block tends to keep coming back.
RTT communicates directly with the subconscious. We don’t manage the symptom. We find where the belief was formed — and we change it there.
What actually happens in an RTT session?
Before your session, we have a thorough consultation so I understand exactly what you’re working through and what you want your life to feel like on the other side.
The session itself is typically 90 minutes to two hours. You’ll be in a deeply relaxed state throughout — hypnosis isn’t sleep, and you remain fully aware and in control at all times. In that relaxed state, we access the subconscious together and find the root of the pattern: often a moment, an experience, or a decision made in childhood or early life that formed the belief you’ve been living inside of ever since.
We don’t revisit that moment painfully. We look at it clearly, as an adult, with new understanding. And we update it.
After your session, you receive a personalised hypnosis recording to listen to for 21 days, reinforcing the new belief at a subconscious level while the neural pathways are forming.
What this looks like in real life?
The woman who has spent twenty years believing she’s not quite good enough — despite every achievement telling her otherwise — sits down in a session and, in a relaxed state, goes back to the first time she made that decision about herself. Not a therapist’s interpretation of when it happened. The actual moment. She sees it clearly, understands what she decided, and realises — with the perspective of an adult — that the conclusion she drew simply wasn’t true. The belief that has been running her life for two decades shifts in the space of a session. She leaves different.
That’s not unusual. It’s what RTT is designed to do.
Questions I hear often about this
Will I be unconscious or out of control?
No. Hypnosis is simply a state of deep relaxation and focus — similar to the feeling just before you fall asleep, or being completely absorbed in a film. You remain aware, in control, and able to come out of the relaxed state at any point. Nothing happens without your participation.
How is this different from meditation?
Meditation creates a calm mental state. RTT uses a relaxed state to access the subconscious and actively change what’s stored there. They feel similar but do very different things.
What if I can’t be hypnotised?
Almost everyone can enter a relaxed, focused state — because it’s a completely natural condition. The most common barrier is not feeling safe or comfortable enough to let go. That’s why we begin with a consultation, so by the time we start the session, you feel at ease.
RTT Hypnotherapy reaches the subconscious root of a wide range of patterns, fears and blocks.
Below are the areas I work with most. If you see yourself in one of them, there’s a dedicated page written for exactly where you are. And if you’re not sure which one fits, a first call is the right place to start — we’ll find it together.
Self-doubt, low confidence and imposter syndrome
Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation
Relationship patterns and attachment wounds
Body image and your relationship with food
Fear of success, visibility blocks and money patterns
Habits that keep resetting — eating, drinking, overspending
Menopause — the psychological experience and physical symptoms
If something in this resonates, a first call is the right next step. It’s a relaxed, honest conversation about where you are and whether RTT is the right fit.
